EDS has can­celled the EDS Lead­er­ship Sum­mit, sched­uled for August 30 — Sep­tem­ber 2, 2021, in Las Vegas. The infor­ma­tion below should answer most of your ques­tions regard­ing the can­cel­la­tion, includ­ing ques­tions about refunds.

Why is EDS being cancelled?

EDS has been close­ly mon­i­tor­ing the recent increase in COVID-19 infections. 

This action was tak­en out of con­cerns received from EDS atten­dees, can­cel­la­tions of sim­i­lar­ly sized con­fer­ences in the U.S., and the increased vol­ume of con­firmed cas­es of coro­n­avirus through­out the country.

In light of the risk to the health and safe­ty of EDS atten­dees, staff and ECIA/ERA/GEDA mem­bers, the EDS Board believes that can­cel­la­tion of this pre­mière indus­try event is in everyone’s best interest.

Will my meet­ing space reg­is­tra­tion or Affil­i­ate reg­is­tra­tion be refunded?

Com­pa­nies that reserved meet­ing space (suites, con­fer­ence rooms, Euro suites, affil­i­ate space, etc.) and com­pa­nies who reg­is­tered as Affil­i­ates have two refund options.

The first option is a full refund, less a $100 pro­cess­ing fee. You must request a refund by Sep­tem­ber 10, 2021. Requests received after that date will default to a cred­it for EDS 2022. Refund requests must be sent to . Once your refund request is received, you will receive con­fir­ma­tion via email. Due to the high demand, it may take up to two weeks for your refund to be processed.

The sec­ond option is to cred­it your reg­is­tra­tion fee to next year’s EDS, which will be held May 10 – 13, 2022, in Las Vegas at The Mirage Resort. The ben­e­fit to your com­pa­ny in choos­ing this option is that you avoid any price increase, you pre­serve your exist­ing space loca­tion and you demon­strate your con­tin­ued sup­port and com­mit­ment to EDS. If you select this option, you do not have to do any­thing. EDS will grate­ful­ly keep the fee and cred­it it in full to next year’s event, less a $100 pro­cess­ing fee.

No par­tial refunds and par­tial cred­its. Refunds will not be made by wire transfer.

Will my indi­vid­ual Attendee EDS reg­is­tra­tion be refunded?

You will auto­mat­i­cal­ly receive a full refund for your indi­vid­ual Attendee reg­is­tra­tion ($199). You do not have to request a refund. If you paid by cred­it card, the refund will be made back to your cred­it card account. If you paid by check, you will be mailed a refund check. 

Will my spon­sor­ship be refunded?

You may select either a refund or a cred­it for next year as not­ed above.

Instead of a refund, can I have a cred­it toward next year’s EDS?

Only for companies/​individuals that have reg­is­tered for suites, con­fer­ence rooms, meet­ing space, etc., see the note above about refunds. Indi­vid­u­als will only receive a refund for atten­dance registrations.

Will my hotel room be can­celled automatically?

If you reg­is­tered with EDS and made your reser­va­tion direct­ly with the Mirage with­in the EDS room block, your reser­va­tion will be auto­mat­i­cal­ly can­celled by the hotel and any first night deposit will be cred­it­ed back to you on your cred­it card by the hotel. You will receive noti­fi­ca­tion from the Mirage when the can­cel­la­tion is done. If you booked your reser­va­tion through anoth­er ser­vice or at a dif­fer­ent hotel, you will need to con­tact the ser­vice or the hotel direct­ly to cancel.

Will my air­line tick­et be refunded?

The indi­vid­ual air­lines have estab­lished their own poli­cies regard­ing can­cel­la­tions, change fees and refunds. You will need to con­tact your air­line direct­ly regard­ing your spe­cif­ic situation.

Will EDS be offered as an online-only event?

No. Due to the heavy net­work­ing and meet­ing focus, EDS can­not eas­i­ly be turned into online-only event.

Will the event be post­poned to a lat­er date in 2021?

No, for a vari­ety of rea­sons it is not pos­si­ble to move EDS 2021 to a date lat­er in the year. EDS will next be held as sched­uled on May 10 – 13, 2022, in Las Vegas.
